From the Council for Secular Humanism:
Secular humanism is a comprehensive, nonreligious lifestance incorporating:
- » A naturalistic philosophy
- » A cosmic outlook rooted in science
- » A consequentialist ethical system
From American Humanist:
Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism and other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.
Personally I like to combine the reality of Humanism, with the mind observation tools of Buddhism. Both Humanism and Buddhism also have strong foundations in ethics and the treatment of people. These philosophies work at uniting people, instead of creating divisive attitudes through beliefs.
We need to look at life objectively, with appreciation, and value all that the Earth has to offer.
