It is hard to look at a work of art if you don't like the person who did it. Sorting out the person behind the ideas is tough.

Likewise, as you say Dana, I can't recommend Buddhist books to people because of all the other stuff mixed in there.

For me, both the abusive sex and the reincarnation talk would be obstacles.

Hmm seems like as if your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess Ill just conclude what I submitted and say, Im thoroughly enjoying your blog. I at the same time am an aspiring blog writer but Im still new to everything. Are you experiencing any ideas for inexperienced blog writers? Id genuinely be thankful.

I know there was much controversy around Osho. I don't endorse OSHO the man, but I do find much wisdom in his books. Wisdom can come from a lot of strange places, different types of people and even Yoda, who wasn't real at all. I did mention my hesitation to recommend the book.

I know there are people who have issues with Osho. That's why I chose to share my favorite bits rather endorse the book. Of course some people will find the bits intriguing enough to buy the book and that's fine. I wasn't in Oregon, and I read bits and pieces about the accusations. I don't know how much was true or not, and I'm not going to claim to know the mind of Osho. I don't agree with all he says in this book, which I did point out, and is why it doesn't get my total endorsement. But there is some good stuff, some interesting views, and good stuff to learn.

Dear Dana,

I am upset that you would mention OSHO in the same breath as The Buddha. As a native Oregonian, I was here when his commune was here in Oregon. To me anyone who had sex with numerous commune members, rode about in Rolls Royce's, had armed guards carrying automatic weapons, and tried to poison people in The Dalles among other examples of bad behavior is so far from Buddhahood, that his name should not be mentioned in the same paragraph as The Buddha. Plus, the guy looked like he was high all the time...he looked like someone who smoked a lot of pot.

Osho may have had an understanding of what The Buddha taught, but his actions were not those of a Buddha. I thought your website might be of value, but after what you said about Osho, I am of the opinion, that I cant trust anything more that you have to say. How anyone could praise Osho is beyond me.

Sorry, but if you saw and heard what went on at Oshos commune, then I bet your opinion would be different. My opinion, and that of many, many others, is that Osho was nothing more than a con man who wanted free money, free sex, and power over the simple minded. I am 110% sure that The Buddha would have disassociated himself from someone like Osho the same as he did Devadatta. Jealous of the Buddha, his cousin Devadatta tries to kill him so as to take lead of the Sangha. That sounds to me like what Osho wanted to do.

I am absolutely amazed that someone who follows the Buddhas teachings, would endorse anything that has to do with Osho. Even criminals and con men can be convincing when they copy the great words of others. What a shame, what a shame, what a shame......

Good luck with your website.

Was looking for a piece of math work to do to help with my revision, I'm studying in my last year of school and have exams soon; I've always had trouble with math so from that have built up negative beliefs, what you wrote is exactly like me, or how I was before i read this. Thanks for the motivational writing it has given me the right attitude now to do my revision. It really is our thoughts that create our reality. Thanks for the reminder ;)
